Tsotsi is adapted from the novel by South African writer Athol Fugard. Set in Alexandria, a slum in Johannesburg, the film tells the story of Tsotsi, a young street thug who hijacks a car only to discover a baby in the back seat. As he is faced with the choice between right and wrong, so Tsotsi has to decide the path of his life. With evocative cinematography of the townships and skylines of Johannesburg, the soundtrack features kwaito (a popular South African hip hop style music) performed by South African artist Zola as well as a score with the voice of South African protest singer/poet Vusi Mahlasela.
